The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have actually risen the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints in the world, one business is making the most of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
